Der Untergang Downfall 2004 BluRay 720p.rar Many movies are made but only a few will endure the test of time. This one's astounding filmography, low budget, and hit-or-miss quality would make most directors abandon it altogether. But in its own unique way, Der Untergang is a masterpiece that showcases the potential of human beings to survive against all odds when their survival is at stake. The movie is based on the famous book "Downfall" by author/psychologist Joachim Fest, who claims that Hitler was never aware of the fact that his empire was collapsing. This claim is supported by Hitler's valet, Heinz Linge. The film begins on April 30, 1945, with little time remaining before Berlin comes under siege by advancing Russian forces. The Fuhrer is depicted as a petulant man whose moods often swing wildly at the drop of a hat. He frequently takes his anger out on those closest to him - most notably Eva Braun (Juliane Köhler) and Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler (Ulrich Matthes). Hitler's chief secretary, Traudl Junge (Alexandra Maria Lara), is shown to be quite fearful of the boss. Her presence remains a mystery, as she is never quite sure if she is privy to his innermost thoughts. As the Russian shelling of Berlin intensifies, Hitler becomes increasingly obsessed with finding a way to escape from Berlin and join up with southern forces in a last-ditch "Alpenfestung". Elsewhere, Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring (Ulrich Noethen), resigns from his position as head of state upon news of Hitler's death. Eventually, the Soviets manage to encircle Berlin, forcing Hitler to face the harsh reality of his situation. The film then cuts to April 29, showing Hitler's 56th birthday party at the Chancellery. As news of Göring's resignation spreads, many party-goers begin to question whether he should be replaced. By the next morning, however, it becomes clear that Göring will not be leaving Berlin anytime soon. On April 30, he decides to pay a visit to Hitler at the "Führerbunker". Later on that day (back in Berlin), Goebbels makes an announcement about his theory of humanity’s inherent inferiority. He claims that everything great was accomplished through the power of the German people. On May 1, it becomes evident that Goebbels's speech has had a profound effect on Hitler. The Fuhrer realizes that his power is fading and that the German people will never accept him as their leader. One day later, Hitler offers Junge and Traudl (who is his nephew) a cyanide capsule, telling them to take it if they wish to exit Berlin alive. Nobody consumes the poison pills at first; but as Russian forces begin bombarding Berlin, more and more of Hitler’s closest lieutenants begin making preparations to flee from Berlin with their families. cfa1e77820
